At 0845 on Sunday mornings, the Victoria Cycling Club meets outside “The Bridge Deli and Cafe” in Abridge (RM4 1BA, Image, right). Occasionally, club rides may start at the same time outside the Shell Petrol Station at the Wake Arms Roundabout (CM16 5HW; image below) located next to High Beech. Riders travel from a range of places including the home of the club in East London, Bow and Hackney, as well as from Chingford and Woodford. So whether you’re from London or Essex there is someone at the Victoria to ride with!
Club rides are open to ALL! You don’t need to be a racing cyclist, but neither should you be a complete novice. As a guide, if you can complete 50 miles in 3 hours or under, you should be comfortable on these rides. We have a no-drop policy and will always make sure that everyone gets home, we never leave a man or woman behind!
The rides can vary in length, however they are typically around 50-60 miles. There is usually a scheduled coffee stop, although some members do like to press on to complete the ride in one go. The choice is yours.
You can just turn up on a Sunday, or to find out where the ride is going any weekend you can contact us. The best person for this is our Vice-
Captain Jim Conway, and you can call or text on 07974 180 275.
